Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across seven counties on Thursday, August 21, to facilitate maintenance works.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 20, the company said the outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Kisumu, Tharaka Nithi, Murang’a, Meru, Kiambu, and Kilifi counties.

In Nairobi County, residents in parts of Westlands will be affected, including General Mathenge, Peponi Road, Peponi Gardens, Spring Valley Road, Peponi Cliff, Donyo Sabuk, Pine Wood Apartments, part of Eldama Ravine Road, and nearby areas. 

The outage will run from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kisumu County, the blackout will affect Sondu and its environs, including Kandaria, Ingutsi Primary, Ingutsi Centre, Ngege Primary, Maraboi Water, and Chabera, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Tharaka Nithi County, residents in Igambang’ombe and Ntumbara, including Kamatanka Market, Mpangua Village, Kamaindi Market, and adjacent areas, will experience a power cut between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

In Murang’a County, parts of Gatanga, including Githingiri Estate, Thika Green Estate, Mugumo Farm, Carton Manufacturer, Bahati Farm, Jowaki Estate, KARI Thika Memorial Hospital, and surrounding areas, will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Meru County will also be widely affected, with outages scheduled in Ntugi, Kiirua, and Gitoro from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas set to experience interruptions include ATC Tower-Kiborione, Meru Central Kiirua, Ntugi Secondary School, Afia Millers, Three Steers Hotel, Meru National Polytechnic, the entire Gitoro area, Kiirua Mission Hospital, Consolata Mission Hospital Gitoro, and other surrounding estates, schools, and markets.

In Kiambu County, two major areas will face disruptions. 

Parts of Ndumboini and Uthiru, including Ndumboini Market, UON Kabete Vet, Uthiru 87, Uthiru Girls, Njathaini, and Kanyariri, will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Juja and Mangu Road areas will also experience outages within the same timeframe, including Mungetho, Mirimaini, Kiaora Farm, Maryhill Girls, Mangu High, St. Francis Mangu Girls, and several farms and estates along the stretch.

In Kilifi County, power will be cut in Marafa and Sabaki from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas affected include Mambrui Town, KBC Marekebuni, Marafa, Garashi, Wakala, Karibuni Villas, Beach Bay, Mwembe Resort, Savannah, Mijikenda Residence, Angels Bay, and Sabaki.
