DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua will stop and address Kenyans in Nairobi CBD tomorrow.

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) deputy leader Cleophas Malala has alleged a government plan to release state-sponsored goons to infiltrate former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's return procession and cause mayhem in Nairobi's CBD.

In an address on Wednesday, August 20, Malala issued urgent warnings to the business community and cautioned against potential violence during Gachagua's scheduled return on Thursday, August 21.

Malala accused Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen of orchestrating a sinister plan to disrupt the peaceful procession planned for Gachagua's return from the United States.

"Unfortunately, last night, we were informed that the Nairobi County Governor, in cohorts with the CS for Interior, Mr Kipchumba Murkomen, held several meetings and has activated their state-sponsored goons to cause harm to innocent citizens," Malala claimed. "This is being done by one Chief of Staff, one David, in connection with the following members of Parliament, George Aladwa and the Dagoretti North MP, Mama Beatrice Elachi."

The DCP leader directly warned Nairobi's business community to take protective measures for their establishments.

"We call on the Nairobi business community to protect their property because the government has hired militia to wreak havoc in the CBD and its environs," Malala warned.

This announcement follows DCP communications about Gachagua's scheduled return from the United States. On Monday, the party had previously mobilized supporters to converge at three strategic locations to receive the former Deputy President.

The party had earlier expressed concerns about potential government interference, including possible arrest attempts or flight diversions, prompting them to prepare alternative reception plans at Kisumu and Mombasa airports.

Gachagua announced on August 14 that he would cut short his US tour to return and prepare for the upcoming by-elections. He apologized to organizers and promised to reschedule meetings for early next year.

"I regret being unable to visit the scheduled remaining States since I need to get back home to join our party, DCP, in preparation for the upcoming By-Elections in various parts of our country," Gachagua stated. “I am sorry to cut my trip short; my profound apologies to the organizers and Kenyans whom I was to meet; the same has been rescheduled for early next year."

The return comes amid heightened political tensions, with DCP alleging government plans to silence Gachagua through arrest and intimidation upon his arrival in the country.
