President William Ruto has conferred Prince Rahim Aga Khan V with the Chief of the Golden Heart (C.G.H) award

President William Ruto has conferred Prince Rahim Aga Khan V with the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H) award for the exemplary work done by the Aga Khan Network in Kenya.

Prince Rahim was given the CGH award on Tuesday, August 26, during an event at State House, Nairobi.

The C.G.H. is the most prestigious award in Kenya and is given to sitting heads of state or exceptional global leaders.

Speaking after receiving the award, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto for bestowing upon him the C.G.H honour.

“I thank you, your excellency, for your hospitality and the honour you have conferred on me today. I accept this decoration for the recognition of the past but also as a pledge for the future, a pledge to continue working side by side with the people of Kenya in pursuit of a more inclusive, equitable, and hopeful tomorrow,” said Rahim.

President Ruto also awarded Princess Zahra Aga Khan, a member of the AKDN Board of Directors, with the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) award.

This comes a month after President Ruto conferred former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with the CGH award for his outstanding global leadership.

On March 7, the Head of State conferred the CGH award to African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwumi Adesina at State House, Nairobi.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V arrived in Kenya on Monday, August 26, and was received by Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.

He is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Ruto on deepening cooperation between the Government of Kenya and the Ismaili Imamat.

Following the bilateral discussions, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the Government of Kenya and the Ismaili Imamat.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V succeeded his father, the late Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, in February 2025 as the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslim Community following his death.
