His presence at the State House ceremony alongside President Ruto demonstrates the continued cooperation between the government and opposition, particularly during significant diplomatic events that serve Kenya's national interests.

The ceremony was part of Prince Rahim Aga Khan V's three-day official visit to Kenya, which began on Monday, August 26, at President Ruto's invitation.

According to the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, the Prince's primary purpose in visiting was to receive Kenya's most prestigious presidential civil honor.

During the visit, President Ruto engaged in bilateral discussions with Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, focusing on enhancing cooperation between Kenya and the Ismaili Imamat.

These talks aimed to strengthen the extensive work of the Aga Khan Development Network, which maintains significant investments and charitable operations throughout Kenya.

The diplomatic engagement included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kenyan government and the Ismaili Imamat.

This agreement establishes a framework recognizing the Ismaili Imamat as a legal entity representing the Office of the Imam of Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, following traditional succession customs.
