“Democracy is crumbling in Isiolo as security forces stand by while lawlessness reigns. The judiciary has become a weak link. The town feels like a survival-of-the-fittest jungle now.
“It’s time for President William Ruto to step in, disband the Isiolo County government, and establish a caretaker administration,” the former Isiolo Deputy Governor stated.
The attack on the assembly comes after Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Mohamed Roba was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) along Thika Road.

The speaker was held at the Ruaraka Police Station until Wednesday morning before he was moved to an unknown location.
This is not the first time an attack has happened at the Isiolo County Assembly.
On June 26, armed goons stormed the assembly and vandalized vehicles of the staff at the parking following the impeachment of Governor Guyo by Isiolo MCAs.
Governor Guyo survived the impeachment in the Senate after Speaker Amason Kingi ruled that the Isiolo County Assembly did not follow proper procedure during its sittings.
"The Senate finds that the County Assembly of Isiolo did not appropriately hold sittings on the 18th of June 2025, and 26th of June 2025, to table, debate, and pass a vote on the motion for the proposed removal from office by impeachment of the Governor of Isiolo County, Hon. Abdi Hassan.
"The impeachment proceedings terminate forthwith. As a result, Hon. Abdi Ibrahim Hassan retains his seat as the Governor of Isiolo County," he said.
