People's Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has dismissed reports circulating online suggesting that she has thrown her weight behind President William Ruto’s leadership.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 2, Karua termed the claims as fake and misleading, clarifying that she has no association with the statements attributed to her.

"Fake news. President William Ruto is the most cowardly and incompetent person to occupy the office of the president," she stated.

The graphic, shared by various users on social media, falsely portrayed Karua as praising Ruto’s courage in tackling cartels.

This comes barely a week after DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa dismissed claims of a fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, terming the reports as fake news.

An image circulating online alleged that Wamalwa and former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi had disagreed with Gachagua over the positioning of political parties and candidates.

However, in a statement on Thursday, August 28, Wamalwa refuted the claims, stating that the reports were fabricated and meant to cause unnecessary tension.

"No amount of fake news will shake the unity, resolve, and focus of Team #Wantam to beat Team #Tutam both in the coming by-elections and General elections! The die is cast," he wrote.

Prior to that, Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka dismissed a letter circulating on social media purporting to show his appointment as part of an African Union shuttle diplomacy mission.

The letter, allegedly from the Office of the President of Kenya and addressed to the African Union Commission, claims Musyoka was selected by President William Ruto to represent Kenya in a diplomatic engagement related to the upcoming elections in Côte d’Ivoire.

However, in a statement on Thursday, August 7, Kalonzo dismissed the document as fake, insisting that he will never work with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

"Absolutely fake. I will always stand with the people of Kenya. I will not dialogue with those who murder and abduct young Kenyans. #WanTam is not only a reality, it is an eventuality," he said.
