Babu Owino has hinted at the possibility of the Kenya Moja faction joining forces with the United Opposition.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has hinted at the possibility of the Kenya Moja faction joining forces with the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, September 4, Babu cited the Bible to stress the importance of timing in political decisions.

The ODM lawmaker mentioned that the Kenya Moja faction still needs to consolidate its strength before entering into any alliance.

“The bible says in Ecclesiastes 3 that there is a time and a season for everything. When that time comes, we will unite with the United Opposition.

“Right now, we still need to prepare ourselves and set up our base properly so that they can also see we are well organized,” said Babu.

The Kenya Moja faction is made up largely of youthful MPs and Senators who are currently serving in office.

Some of the members include: Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Kitutu Chache MP Antony Kibagendi, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, and Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo.

Babu noted that over 70 lawmakers have shown interest in joining the Kenya Moja faction.

“We already have about 70 members who want to join this group. Some are already in, while others are sending us messages saying they want to become members,” said Babu.

On the other hand, the United Opposition comprises former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, People's Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Jubilee Party Chairman Torome Saitoti.

Former UNCTAD secretary general Mukhisa Kituyi and former CSs Fred Matiang'i and Justin Muturi are also part of the team.
