Former Citizen TV sports journalist Mukami Wambora has secured a new role at SportyTV, an international sports media station headquartered in Madrid, Spain.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 3, SportyTV confirmed her appointment in a statement celebrating the addition of a new voice from Africa to their newsroom.
"We are excited to welcome our newest journalist to the team. Representing Kenya and the continent of Africa, Mukami Wambora," the outlet said.
Speaking about her new role, Wambora expressed pride in carrying both her national and continental identity to the global sports media landscape.
"I'm really happy to be here, representing my country, Kenya, representing my continent, Africa, and now representing SportyTV," she said.

Wambora graduated from the University of Liverpool in the UK before attending the Kenya School of Law and later working as a legal assistant at a local bank.
Despite this background, her real passion lay in sports; she started writing football articles and, after a successful voice test, landed her first broadcasting opportunity at Capital FM.

In 2016, Wambora moved to Radio Africa’s 24-hour sports station, Bamba Sports, where she worked as a presenter, producer, and anchor of programs such as Monday Night Football and Sports Zone News.
In 2017, she joined Citizen TV, where she anchored prime-time sports news and appeared as an analyst on Sporty Monday.
Wambora has covered major sporting events, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the Berlin Marathon, and the 2019 INEOS Challenge in Austria, where marathoner Eliud Kipchoge ran a sub-two-hour marathon.
After leaving Citizen TV, she became a co-host of the radio show, #SportOn, on Nation FM alongside Bernard Ndong’ and James Wokabi, and also freelanced as a sports pundit with Homeboyz Radio.
Beyond her on-air presence, Wambora was elected Treasurer of the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya in April 2023.
In addition, after being diagnosed with a mental health condition in 2019, she became an open voice for awareness and co-founded Uko Sawa, a platform designed to make counselling and support more accessible.
Elsewhere, earlier in the year, TV47 announced a partnership with SportyTV that would allow Kenyan football fans to watch top European football matches for free.
The two broadcasters agreed to simulcast major football leagues, including the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga, for the entire 2025/26 season.
The new development means millions of Kenyans who do not have access to pay-TV services will now enjoy world-class football on free-to-air channels.
According to the details of the deal, SportyTV holds the official broadcasting rights, and TV47 will air the same matches at the same time, allowing more viewers across the country to tune in.
To boost the experience further, Radio47 will offer live match commentary and expert analysis, especially useful for fans listening on the move or in areas with weak TV signals.
