Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions across 14 counties on Tuesday, September 30.
In a notice on Monday, September 29, the company explained that the power outages are meant to allow for maintenance works.
In Machakos County, areas along Kyumbi Road, including Kenya Israel, Makyau, Canaani, Katelembo, Kimangu, Kilima, Mutuku Ngei, Kathome, Kithini, Katheka Kai, Chai Moto, Makutano Kyumbi, Itimboni, Kyumbi Shrine, Mua Hills, Mua Radar, Mathatani, Kaviani, and Maanzoni will experience a blackout between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
Another outage is expected along Kangundo Road covering Koma, Kantafu, Malaa, Kware, Mutalia, Joska, Sunshine, Kenanie Leather Industries, Nguluni, and surrounding quarries from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
Kericho County will see outages in Kebimbir area affecting institutions such as Kebimbir Primary School, Nyalilbuch Market and Nyalilbuch Dispensary from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

In Kisumu County, the Kochogo region, including Kochogo Market, Nyalenda Secondary, Ahero Safaricom, and nearby schools and dispensaries, will go without electricity between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
In Vihiga County, customers around Vet Farm, Maseno University Complex and Hostels, Ekwanda, Emaloba, Maseno Police Station and nearby petrol stations will be affected from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Kakamega County will have an outage from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in Shikoti Market, Tumaini area, Emukaya Market and surrounding villages.
In Busia County, areas around Nahasiko and Nambomboto, including Nyakhobi, Ganajala, and Muluanda Ginnery, will also be switched off between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
In Kirinyaga County, customers in Mukinduri Market, Kerugoya Boys High School, Mutitu Market, and surrounding areas will be affected during the same time window.
Residents of Embu County should expect power interruptions in Runyenjes Market, Moi Mbiruri, Runyenjes DOS, Gikuuri Dispensary, Gichera Booster, and Kangondu Coffee Factory between 8.30 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
In Murang’a County, Igikiro Market, Ndorome School, Mireka Farm, and surrounding areas will be off-grid from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Nyeri County has two scheduled outages. The first covers Kimathi High School, Karuna-Ini, and Burton areas from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The second affects Gatugi Market, Gatugi Girls, Chinga Coffee Factory, Othaya DC’s Office, Gitandara Hotel, Mairo Market, and other surrounding villages within the same period.
In Meru County, residents of Ntharene, Mwichiun,e and Kanyakine, including Kanyakine Milk Plant and Kagwuru ATC, will be without electricity from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Additionally, Kiambu County’s Lower Kabete Market, Kingeero, Mary Leaky Girls, and Ndongoro areas are also scheduled to be affected between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
In Mombasa, Shimo la Tewa Boys Secondary, Mama Ngina Girls High School, Shanzu Teachers’ College, Sun Set Paradise Apartments, and Serena Road will be off from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Elsewhere, in Kwale, Diani Shopping Centre including Carrefour, Chandarana, Swahili Beach, Diani Sea Lodge and nearby hotels will also experience outages within the same timeframe.
