Kennedy Nzuve, the Kenyan Police Officer who died in Haiti, was buried on Thursday, October 2, at his home in Machakos County.

Kennedy Nzuve, the Kenyan Police Officer who died while serving in Haiti, was on Thursday, October 2, laid to rest at his home in Kyakatolwe Village, Machakos County.

Administration Police Service (APS) Director of Operations Jackson Kangani, who represented the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja at the funeral, eulogized Corporal Nzuve as a diligent and vibrant officer.

“He described him as being deeply committed to his duties and noted that he was always considered a reliable and dependable officer by his seniors,” NPS said in a statement.

The funeral was attended by Machakos County Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi Kilonzo, Edward Githaiga, CEO of the Africa 4 Haiti Initiative, Rapid Deployment Unit Commandant Aggrey Shamala, and APS Chief of Staff Haron Nthiga.

Machakos County Police Commander Monica Kimani, APS Staffing Officer for Operations, Simon Njega, Machakos AP County Commander Gathitu Ndegwa, and Kalama Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Gatirira were also present.

Nzuve, who was the only child in his family, left behind his wife, Gladys Ndunda, and two children.

The late police officer was also accorded a 21-gun salute in honour of his service to the country.

Nzuve passed away in a road accident while serving with the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.

The fatal accident occurred on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 5:00 PM along the treacherous Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9.

MSS officers were conducting a vehicle recovery operation involving two MaxxPro armored vehicles.

During the operation, one vehicle was towing another when mechanical difficulties arose, ultimately leading to the fatal accident.

Nzuve was rushed to Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville following the crash but was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.

His body arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday, September 26, 2025, evening.

Nzuve's family witnessed the emotional homecoming, with his mother, Serah Nzuve, leading the family delegation.
