Kenya African National Union (KANU) Chairman Gideon Moi on Friday, October 10, hosted President William Ruto at Kabarak in Nakuru County, just a day after their meeting at State House, Nairobi.
Ruto arrived at the Kabarak residence aboard a military chopper, where he was warmly received by Moi before the two proceeded to plant a commemorative tree as part of the Mazingira Day celebrations.
The president later laid a flower at the gravesite of the late former President Daniel arap Moi, paying tribute to the country’s second Head of State who passed away in 2020.
After the solemn moment, the two leaders were joined by other local officials for a meeting with KANU grassroots leaders.

About a week ago, KANU confirmed that Moi would be on the ballot in the forthcoming Baringo Senatorial by-election.
However, following a meeting between Moi and Ruto at State House on Thursday, October 9, KANU Secretary General George Wainana confirmed that Moi has dropped out of the race.
Reacting to Moi's move, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen asserted that many leaders will join the administration by next year.
In an interview, he praised Moi's decision to mend fences with the Head of State, describing it as a wise political move.
"Gideon Moi has done a good thing. It would have been very bad if they continued to quarrel," he stated, adding that reconciliation was particularly important given Moi's political stature and experience.
Murkomen acknowledged that while some of Moi's supporters might feel disappointed by the development, the gesture demonstrates national unity at a critical time.
He noted that Moi's move is part of a larger pattern of political cooperation, pointing to the broad-based government arrangement that brought together Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Ahead to the 2027 general elections, Murkomen painted an optimistic picture for the ruling administration, contradicting earlier narratives that suggested the government would serve only one term.
"If you look ahead in the politics of 2027, you will see that many Kenyans are coming together. Contrary to the opinion that people used to have that the government is one-term, it shows that many friends and supporters are coming together," he added.
