Justin Muturi has refuted claims that President William Ruto sent emissaries to convince him to get out of the opposition camp.

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has dismissed claims that President William Ruto sent emissaries to convince him to get out of the opposition camp.

In a statement on Sunday, October 12, Muturi clarified that he has never met any ally of President Ruto or sent anyone to meet him.

The former CS flagged an article circulating online alleging he had received Ruto’s emissaries, terming it as propaganda aimed at sowing division in the opposition camp.

“Let it be clear, I have never met, sent, nor received any emissaries from President William Ruto or anyone acting on his behalf.

“This propaganda being circulated is a desperate attempt to push a false narrative and sow division,” said Muturi.

The former Public Service CS affirmed that he will remain true to his principles, insisting that no circumstance will compel him to abandon the opposition side for convenience.

“I stand by my principles and my word; I do not trade my convictions for convenience or political favours. Kenyans deserve honesty, not fabricated headlines from rumor peddlers,” Muturi added.

The former CS fell out with President Ruto after he began criticizing the government over abductions and extrajudicial killings in the country.

President Ruto sacked Muturi on March 26, replacing him with ex-Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku.

Before being sacked, Ruto criticized Muturi’s performance, particularly during his earlier tenure as Attorney General, labeling him ‘fairly incompetent’.

"I had a problem with the AG who was there; he was fairly incompetent. But I now have a very competent lady in that position, and I can assure you that the issues of Waqf will be sorted out in a matter of months," Ruto said.

On his part, Muturi said he was fired from the cabinet over his firm stand on abductions and extra-judicial killings.

"There is no doubt that I was sacked because of my stand on the abductions and extrajudicial killings and not because of the so-called absconding of cabinet meetings."

"If their intention is to silence me, they have dialed the wrong number, for I will never tire of fighting for the rights of the People of Kenya," Muturi noted.
