Matatu operator Super Metro has announced plans to venture into the taxi business under a new service brand name, SuperGo Taxi.
The popular transport company made the announcement to get into the ride-hailing market through a statement on Sunday, October 12.
"SuperGo Taxi coming soon! When the ride’s on time, the mood stays prime. We move joyfully," the company stated.
This comes months after the company announced the resumption of its operations across the city following the suspension of its licence.
In a statement on Thursday, April 17, the company said that it had obtained clearance to return to the road after a review.

Super Metro indicated that the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB) had put various conditions to be met before being allowed to return on the roads.
"Super Metro Limited is thrilled to announce that we have successfully met and surpassed all compliance requirements set by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB). Following a thorough review, we have been officially cleared to resume operations, effective today.
"Our team has worked tirelessly over the past three days to address all directives, ensuring that our services meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory adherence. We are excited to once again serve the people of Kenya, providing safe and efficient transport solutions to communities across the region," the statement read.
Super Metro's operator license had been suspended until Monday, March 24, when TLAB halted the suspension that NTSA issued on Tuesday, March 18.
NTSA suspended Super Metro until the company fully complied with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014, and other set conditions.
In a statement on Thursday, March 20, NTSA said the decision was necessitated by the need to ensure the company is compliant and has put in place safety measures to protect the lives of its passengers and other road users.
“This is to notify the Public that the Authority has suspended Super Metro Limited’s operator license until the Company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014 and other set conditions.
"The decision was necessitated by the need to ensure the Company is not only compliant, but that it has put in place safety measures to protect the lives of its passengers and other road users,” the statement read in part.
The Authority directed Super Metro to present 294 vehicles with various violations to the respective speed limiter vendors for compliance checks.
The 294 vehicles were also to be taken for inspection at the Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre and obtain compliance reports for all the vehicles.
Super Metro was also ordered to present 42 drivers for a retest at the Likoni Driver Test Centre.
Other directives include; disengaging unqualified drivers, presenting signed contracts for their drivers and other staff including proof of compliance with Section 5(1)(e), a six-month record of staff payroll, PAYE, NSSF, and SHA remittances, and the company to conduct a road safety sensitization for all its drivers.
