The Met Department has predicted that rainfall will continue across the seven regions this week.

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has predicted that rainfall will persist across seven regions in the country this week.

In a weather forecast on Tuesday, October 14, the KMD predicted that rainfall would be experienced in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley region.

Other regions expected to experience rains this week are the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.

The Met Department noted that in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley regions, morning rains will occur with showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoons, while nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

“Morning rains are likely to occur over a few places. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places during the first half of the forecast period, increasing to several places thereafter. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though showers may occur over a few places during the second half of the forecast period,” read part of the forecast.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi and Kiambu County, is expected to experience cloudy mornings with occasional rains over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals.

Afternoon showers are likely in a few areas, while nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

The weatherman also predicted that maximum daytime average temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya regions.

Meanwhile, parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and in the vicinity of Mt. Kilimanjaro are expected to experience minimum night-time temperatures of less than 10°C.

At the same time, the Met Department mentioned that the highest seven-day rainfall in the past week, with a total of 108.0 mm, was recorded at the rainfall station in Gakoe Tea Estate in Kiambu County.

The same station recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall of 67.0mm on October 7, 2025.

Mandera meteorological station recorded the highest daily maximum temperature of 38.3°C on October 9, 2025, while Nyahururu meteorological station recorded the lowest daily minimum temperature of 5.0°C on October 11, 2025.
