The late Nderitu Gachagua's wife visited Opoda farm on Wednesday to condole with Mama Ida Odinga following the death of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Mama Margaret Nyokabi, widow of the first Governor of Nyeri County, the late Hon. Nderitu Gachagua, and her daughter Mercy were received at the Bondo home to pay their respects to the family of the former Prime Minister who passed away on October 15.

In a statement, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) acknowledged the visit, noting the historical significance of the gesture.
"Widow of the 1st Governor of Nyeri County, the late Hon. Nderitu Gachagua Mama Margaret Nyokabi, and her daughter Mercy were at Opoda farm in Bondo today to give pole to Mama Ida Odinga and family following the passing of Baba Raila Odinga on the 15th of this month," ODM stated on their official social media page.
Mama Ida Odinga has been receiving steady visitors at the family's Opoda farm home in Bondo as Kenyans from all walks of life continue to pay their respects.
Among the prominent visitors on Wednesday was KANU leader Gideon Moi, who arrived to honor the life and legacy of the late opposition leader.
"We honor the life, times, and memories we shared with the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. Even as he rests, we continue to condole with his family and assure them they are in our thoughts and prayers," Moi noted.
The KANU chairman was accompanied by former President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, who traveled to Kenya to pay his last respects to the family.

The ODM Women Caucus, comprising women of the party from different parts of the country, also visited Opoda farm to offer warmth and comfort to Mama Ida following the death of her husband and the party leader.

The party further appreciated the teachers under KUPPET, highlighting Mama Ida’s own struggles as a teacher during the KANU regime, adding context to their visit.

"Teachers under the umbrella body of Kuppet Siaya county went to condole with their fellow teacher Mama Ida Odinga at her Opoda farm home in Bondo. Mama Ida suffered under the KANU regime & fired humiliatingly for being the spouse of Raila Odinga," the ODM statement read.
