Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has announced that the government is planning to introduce a mobile application for reporting cases online.
Speaking on Tuesday November 4, PS Omollo said the app will allow members of the public to report incidents, especially road accidents directly through the platform.
The Interior Principal Secretary noted that the initiative is part of the government’s ongoing police modernization programme.
“We are also soon introducing digital reporting tools, including a mobile app that allows citizens to report incidents particularly road-related cases directly online,” said PS Omollo.
He also mentioned that police stations are now transitioning to digital occurrence books to enhance transparency.

“This administration has made significant strides in police modernization and the adoption of technology. Most stations now use Occurrence Books (OB), but we are transitioning to a Digital OB system to enhance transparency and reduce case manipulation,” Omollo stated.
The Interior PS also mentioned that the government is expanding the use of CCTVs and installing street lights to combat crime and improving safety.
“We recognize CCTVs as an important tool in public security and are expanding the use of CCTV and installing more street lights in both urban and rural areas to help deter crime and improve safety in our communities,” PS Omollo added.
This comes months after Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku announced the government is developing a mobile app to monitor civil servants.
Speaking on July 17, CS Ruku explained that the app will provide updates on reporting times by civil servants and also record those who fail to show up for work.
The Public Service CS also noted that it will be mandatory for all civil servants to download the mobile app.
“I have embarked with the ministry to ensure we are going to come up with a mobile application where every civil servant in Kenya will download that application.
"The application will be able to tell us whether you are at the work station, whether you are on leave, whether you are at a workshop and what you are doing, what time you reported to your work, what time you left your work station, whether you are in a medical, paternity or maternity leave,” Ruku stated.
