Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across six counties on Tuesday, December 9, affecting thousands of customers in Nairobi, Machakos, Kakamega, Kisii, Nyeri, and Kiambu.
In a notice issued on Monday, December 8, the company stated that the outages are necessary to facilitate routine maintenance work.
"Good evening. Please be informed that the following areas are scheduled for planned power maintenance tomorrow, 09 December 2025," Kenya Power stated.
In Nairobi County, parts of Karen and Langata will experience power interruptions from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Affected areas include Bomas of Kenya, CITAM Nyumba Moja Road, Forest Edge Gardens, Muiri Road, Langata Substation Local, and adjacent customers.
Parts of Kayole, Komarock, and Spine Road will face outages from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The affected areas include Komarock Phase 1, Mbuyu Court, Acacia Court, Spring Valley, parts of Kayole, Kayole Junction, Kayole, Kayole I Mkt, Kayole Police Stn, Matopeni, Mihango Bus Stage, Kayole Posta, Jawaka, Kayole Nyaura Bus Stage, Three in one S/Mkt, Kayole Tushauriane, and adjacent customers.

Businesses and residents along parts of Kitui Road will also be affected as maintenance works will be carried out from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The outage will impact the whole of Kitui Rd, Kyeni, Kaseve, Kaani, Vyulya, Kavumbu, Masii Mkt, Muhetheni, Mbiuni, Ikalaasa, Wamunyu, Katangi, Kikesa, Ikombe, Syokisinga, Kyua, and adjacent customers.
Parts of Kitengela will experience disruptions from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, affecting the whole of CBD Town, Capitol Hill, Kursan Quarry, Almond Grove, Kenpipe, KUSCO, Milimani Orchard, Milimani Homes, Sinkeet, Milimani, Old Namanga Rd, Airview, Vekaria, Behind Prison, Kwa Mohammed, Kursan Quarry, Bible College, Thorn Grove, Raregem, Capitol Hill, Almond Grove, Almond Grove, KUSCO, Kenpipe, Status Villa, and adjacent customers.
The EPZ and Olturuto area will also be affected from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including Kitengela Medical, Whitestar, Bristol Hosp, Peniel, Whitestar, Three Ways, Bustan Est, Kwa Mahugu, Roitiken, Olturuto Centre, Emparaswai, Lema, Kwa Cheruiyoit, Wikister Hosp, Kwa Mwaura, and adjacent customers.
Machakos County will also experience power outages in parts of Kangundo Road from Joska to Nguluni, scheduled from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The affected areas include the whole of Koma Mkt, Kantafu Mkt, Malaa Mkt, Kware, Mutalia, Joska, Sunshine, Kenanie Leather Industries, Bridan, Ngalaya, St. Phillips Neri Joska, Quick Mart Joska, All Quarries & Crushers at Musimi, and adjacent customers.
Parts of Wote Road will face interruptions from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, affecting UBC, People's Park, Maruba, Legend, Iluvya Rd, Katoloni, Kwa Mwau, Vota, Katumani, Kwa Katheke, Kimutwa, Love, Kaathi, Makaveti, Masaani, Mutunyu, Mang'auni, Kalama, Kinoi, Kamweleni, Kwa Mutisya, Mbondoni, Yaitha, Kwa Kavoo, Kyawalia, Kyamuthinza, Membani, Kitonyini, Muumandu, Lumbwa Complex, Kivandini, Ngutu, Nyayo, Malili kwa Kea, Kavyuni, Kafuaa, Mutulani, Kasunguni, Iiyuni, Veve, Miaani, Mbuani, Kola, Katanga, and adjacent customers.
For Kakamega County, parts of Butali will be affected from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The outage will impact Matete, Kivaywa Boys, Mbade, Matsha, Luyeshe, Chebwai, Butali Mkt, Tande Cereals, and adjacent customers.
Parts of Kisii County, including Etago, will experience power disruptions from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Areas affected include Etago, Ekona, Parts of Kenyenya, Ekona, Mogonga, Moticho, Gesabakwa, Nyabera, Nyangweta, and adjacent customers.
In Nyeri County, parts of Warazojet and Kimahuri will face outages from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The affected areas include Kimahuri S/Centre, Kairi, Mbao Sawmill, Kabaru, Mt. Kenya Fisheries, Serena Forest Lodge, KWS Mountain Lodge Gate, Kabaru KFS, Ndathi Sec Sch, Kimahuri Dispensary, and adjacent customers.
Parts of Othaya Boys and Iriaini will experience interruptions from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, affecting the following locations: Kiahagu Sec Sch, Othaya Boys, Kahigaini, Iriaini T/Fact, Thunguri Mkt, Waihara Mkt, Githumbai Mkt, Kihuri Water, Kabebero, Thuti TBC, Kairuthi, Muroha TBC, Gathumbi TBC, and adjacent customers.
Finally, in Kiambu County, Kenya Power will carry out maintenance in parts of Karanjee and Loreto Girls from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The outage will impact Karanjee, Loreto Girls, Tigoni Hospital, Tigoni Police, Limuru Golf Club, Brown Cheese, Chisire Home, Gatina, Muguga Pyrethrum, Lower Kabuku, St. Paul's University, Tigoni Farm KARLO, Shira Farm, and adjacent customers.
