Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has issued a heartfelt message following the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of his former colleague, James Nyakweba, and Nyakweba’s son, Brian.
In a statement on Tuesday, December 9, Omollo acknowledged the severity of the tragedy, noting that the loss of James at the scene, followed by Brian's death while undergoing treatment, was profoundly heartbreaking.
"It is with deep sorrow that I have received the news of the tragic road accident that befell Mr. James Nyakweba and his family on Sunday, 30th November 2025. Sadly, James passed away at the scene, and his son, Brian, who had been hospitalised, succumbed to his injuries today," he said.
Omollo also called for prayers for the recovery of Nyakweba’s wife, who survived the accident.
"We continue to pray for the full and quick recovery of his wife, who was also injured in the same accident," he added.

Reflecting on his working relationship with Nyakweba, Omollo described him as a dedicated public servant who served with integrity and distinction.
He noted that their time together at the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) left a lasting impression on him.
"I had the privilege of working closely with James during my tenure as Managing Director of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA), where he served with dedication and distinction as the Head of Human Resources," he further said.
Omollo concluded by offering condolences to the bereaved family, assuring them of his thoughts and prayers during this painful period.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire family. May God's comfort, strength and abiding presence surround you during this profoundly difficult moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as we walk through this loss together," he concluded.

This comes days after Omollo eulogized renowned Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) journalist Festus Amimo who passed away on Sunday, December 7.
Omollo mourned Amimo, who headed KBC’s Dholuo radio station, Mayienga FM, as a warm soul whose kindness and humility touched everyone.
"I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend, Festus Amimo. Festus was a warm soul, a steady presence, and a true friend whose kindness and humility touched everyone around him.
"Until his passing, he served with great dedication as the Head of KBC Dholuo - Mayienga Radio and Chair of the Luo Journalists Association, where his leadership and passion for storytelling shaped countless voices and strengthened the profession. As we mourn him, I hold his family, friends and all who loved him in my thoughts," he stated.
On the other hand, Siaya Governor James Orengo eulogized Amimo as a calm, collected, and gifted journalist, noting that his death is a significant loss to the media fraternity.
"Deeply saddened by the passing of Festus Amimo of Mayienga Radio. A calm, collected, and truly gifted soul whose loss is a heavy blow to the entire media fraternity.
"Your sessions on air were exceptional, marked by grace, depth, and unwavering respect for every guest who sat across from you. Shine on your path, my good friend, Wuod Awasi. Your voice and spirit will be dearly missed," he said.
Energy cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi remembered the late Amimo as a consummate and charismatic media personality.
"I am devastated by the news of the untimely demise of Festus Amimo, the Head of KBC's Nayienga FM Station. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and professional colleagues. Festus was a consummate and charismatic media man. He was a dependable ally. R.I.P Wuod Awasi," he stated.
