A National Police reservist is in custody awaiting arraignment after being arrested for partaking in criminal acts.
The suspect, who had been in possession of an AK-47 rifle, is said to have been part of a gang that terrorised the locals of Kirindini in Igembe South.
Instead of reinforcing police officers, he was found to have been working with criminal gangs partaking in robberies in the area.
"The suspect is part of a larger gang implicated in a brazen robbery with violence that took place on December 19, 2025, at Kirindini Shopping Centre," a statement from the DCI read.
However, as he advanced his attacks with the government rifle, a report about him was made to the detectives.

The DCI sleuths leveraged the tips from the members of the public to trace the suspect.
"Through crucial leads, the team of detectives proceeded to the villages of Kina Meru, Kiutine, and Kina-Duba, culminating in the arrest of the officer," the DCI said.
Upon his arrest, he was subjected to interrogations during which he revealed where he had hidden the firearm.
The detectives went there and recovered the rifle, with a magazine bearing two bullets.
They seized the AK-47 rifle and the magazine as they confined him to custody, this as the officers launched a hunt for other members of the gang.
"Upon questioning, he revealed the location where he had buried an AK-47 rifle, a weapon that was reportedly used in the robbery incident. Alongside the rifle, detectives recovered a magazine containing two rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm ammunition. Also, the official government rifle issued to the said NPR officer with one magazine was confiscated by the detectives," the DCI said.
Elsewhere, detectives in Eastleigh, Nairobi, arrested a murder suspect during an operation that also led to the recovery of a firearm and suspected stolen property.
The DCI confirmed on Sunday, December 21, that the suspect, identified as Peter Kimani alias Kim, was apprehended along Gallole Street.
At the time of arrest, he was found with a Retay Falcon pistol, a live 9mm hollow‑point round, and a spent cartridge of similar calibre.
Officers further impounded a red Boxer motorcycle, registration number KMGT 530S, which is believed to have been stolen.
Kimani was immediately taken into police custody as investigations continued.
