A standoff ensued in Westlands, Nairobi after Matatu operators protested being relocated.

The group had been told to keep off a bus terminal they have been using in a move aimed at clearing the way for Nairobi Expressway whose entry point is metres from the bus stop.

Agitated Matatu operators took to the streets to protest the move and even went further to block the road.

The Westlands roundabout was completely closed after they parked their busses on the road.

The standoff caused a traffic snarl-up with motorists being urged to use alternative routes.

Transport was also paralyzed as the Kenyans could not be able to board matatu to various destinations.
