Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed nine Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Kajiado County to his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
In a statement on Monday, August 10, Gachagua said the nine MCAs defected from the UDA, ODM and Jubilee parties.
The DCP party leader noted that the defections are a sign of growing support for his party in Kajiado County.
“The journey to 100% DCP in Kajiado is almost complete. This morning, I received into the DCP Party 9 MCAs from Kajiado County who have decamped to the party from Jubilee, ODM and UDA.
“I never asked the MCAs to listen to the ground; they are the ground themselves. They have told me that the ground is green,” Gachagua stated.

The former DP noted that MCAs made the decision to join DCP after listening to their constituents.
“They have informed me that they have received clear instructions from their people to join the party that cares and listens to the aspirations of Kenyans,” Gachagua added.
“Our party continues to grow and expand significantly, with just one year to go before 10th August 2027.”
The nine MCAs include: Magadi Ward MCA Isaac Kiserian, Ewuaso Oonkidongi Ward MCA Joseph Torris, and Kuku Ward MCA Joseph Torris, who defected from ODM.
Others are Jubilee nominated MCA Caroline Ndeti, Ongata Rongai Ward MCA Titus Matheka, Ngong Ward MCA Mbiriri Mwaura, Nkaimurunya Ward MCA John Maina, Oloosirkon Sholinko Ward MCA Marush Kisemei and nominated MCA Nais Naisiae Karia, all of whom left the ruling UDA Party.
This comes days after Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha defected to the DCP party.
Governor Badilisha was formally received into DCP on Wednesday, July 29, by Gachagua during a consultation forum in Wamunyoro.
The former DP also welcomed 24 sitting Members of County Assembly from Laikipia and Nakuru County who had also defected from UDA and TSP to DCP at his Wamunyoro residence.
