The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has unveiled the official ballot paper colours that will be used during the 2027 General Election.
In a notice on Wednesday, August 12, the commission announced that each ballot paper will have a distinct colour matching the lid of its corresponding ballot box.
According to the IEBC, the presidential ballot paper and ballot box lid will be white, while those for Members of the National Assembly will be green.
The ballot paper and ballot box lid for Members of County Assembly (MCAs) will be beige, while those for Senators will be yellow.
The commission further stated that the Woman Representative ballot paper and ballot box lid will be purple, while the Governor ballot paper and ballot box lid will be blue.

IEBC emphasized that voters should ensure they place each ballot paper in the ballot box with the matching lid colour, noting that the colours are designed to make the voting process easier and more efficient.
The announcement comes as the electoral body continues preparations for the 2027 General Election.
In a notice on Tuesday, August 11, IEBC invited tenders from interested bidders for the supply of ballot papers, tactile folders, register of voters and statutory election result declaration forms.
According to the commission, the deadline for submitting bids is September 1, 2026 at 12:00 PM.
IEBC also announced a tender for the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, support and maintenance of the Integrated Elections Management System (IEMS), hardware equipment and accessories.
"Interested eligible tenderers may obtain detailed information from and inspect the tender documents at the IEBC Procurement office, Anniversary Towers, fifth floor, room 514, during normal working hours, Monday to Friday, 8.00 am - 1.00 pm. and 2.00 pm. - 4.30 pm," the notice read.
Further, IEBC said bidders seeking to participate in the tender are required to provide a bid security.
Companies bidding for the supply of ballot papers and other election materials will be required to provide a Ksh40 million bid security, while those seeking the KIEMs kits tenders will pay Ksh30 million.
IEBC emphasized that the bid securities must remain valid for 270 days after the bid submission deadline.
"All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of Ksh30,000,000 for Tender No. IEBC/OIT/01/2026-2027 and Ksh 40,000,000 for Tender No. IEBC/OIT/02/2026-2027 from a reputable financial institution, Insurance Company, or a banker’s cheque payable to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, and must be valid for 270 days after the bid submission deadline," the notice added.
