PS Omollo's response came after a section of Linda Mwananchi leaders raised an alarm over plans to deploy goons to their rally.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has assured that the police would provide security during the Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay on Sunday.

Speaking on Thursday, August 13, PS Omollo reiterated that police will be available to maintain law and order amid concerns that there were plans in place to deploy goons.

He further stated that his position was that every Kenyan had the right to visit whichever part of the country 

"Everybody has a right to go to any corner of the country and converse their issues, and I think the members of the public are smart enough to read into what the political players are saying

"As the PS for Internal Security, the Position is very clear: everybody is free to go everywhere, and the expectation is that we will maintain law and order," the PS stated.

His clarification came after a section of Linda Mwananchi leaders, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, claimed that there was a meeting in the home of one of the senior-ranking state officials to mobilise goons to attack their planned rally.

Orengo claimed that there was a target on his back, and that certain leaders from the Luo Nyanza region had received funds from the state to buy weapons which would be used by the goons.

"I am fully aware that I’m the main target for the much-planned political violence being organised and fully funded by the state through our very own elected leaders and politicians from Homa Bay County during the Linda Mwananchi Homa Rally on Sunday, August 16, 2026," he stated.

However, he stated that despite the imminent security threat, the tour in Homa Bay would go on as planned.

On his part, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino questioned how leaders would plan to cause bloodshed amongst their supporters.

Babu wondered why the leaders were fighting so hard for the government, yet other regions that had more seats in Cabinet and the Executive were against the regime.

Earlier, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna released the tour's itinerary, stating that the team will hold rallies in Nyandiwa, Sindo and Homa Bay Town.
