President William Ruto has accused his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta, of allegedly funding candidates to challenge his re-election in 2027.
Speaking in Eldoret on Thursday, August 13, Ruto claimed that Uhuru was envious of him because he had achieved what he could not in his 10-year rule.
He stated that he would not be intimidated by the 'Wantam' talk, and argued that politicians allegedly sponsored to face him in 2027 should tell Kenyans what they had to offer.
"When you look at their sponsor, didn't he fail to deliver on Affordable Housing, Universal Healthcare Coverage, and Education? Now he has gone to sponsor his protoges to come and compete with me.
"I will defeat them early in the morning because they have no plan, agenda, policies or vision," he stated.

The Head of State urged those allegedly sponsored by Uhuru to prepare themselves for a battle of ideologies and delivery track record.
He claimed that those calling for him to serve for only one term were fuelled by tribalism. Ruto claimed that he is the first President to treat Kenyans equally in terms of development irrespective of where they came from.
"I am not tribal, and that is why the work I am doing here in Rift Valley is what I am doing in Mount Kenya, Central, Eastern, North Eastern," he stated.
Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago reiterated that Uhuru's tenure was below par in comparison to what Ruto had achieved in his first term.
Mandago stated that Ruto would beat the Opposition with more than 10 million votes in the upcoming election. He further stated that he would move across the country to campaign for the President's re-election.
Meanwhile, the President urged Uasin Gishu residents to register as voters. He claimed that more than 1.5 million eligible voters had not enrolled with the IEBC.
Ruto stated that the 2027 vote would put an end to tribalism and regional marginalisation in the country. He assured Kenyans that the election would be peaceful, free and fair.
Earlier, Linda Mwananchi member and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna denied claims that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was funding the movement.
He claimed that the new political outfit was bankrolled by Kenyans who believed that he and his colleagues could bring change to the country, and promised to make public the amount of money contributed through the paybill number.
