Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity interruption in parts of Kisumu County on Saturday, August 15.
In a notice on Friday, August 14, the company said the outage will affect customers in the Katungu area, with the interruption scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 4:00 p.m.
According to Kenya Power, the affected areas will include Gatungu Primary School, Kencel Towers and Gatungu Market, as well as customers in the surrounding areas.
Elsewhere, earlier Friday, Kenya Power explained the power supply interruption in the Congo Area in Kahawa West estate.
Kenya Power explained that it was conducting planned power maintenance in the area and promised to inform residents once the exercise was complete.

The company added that the exercise was to improve power supply in the area after locals raised complaints.
Photos shared by KPLC showed one of the engineers atop an electricity pole assessing the installation of cables on one of the transformers serving the estate.
"Today, our team is carrying out power maintenance in Congo, Kahawa West. To safely complete the works, customers in the area will experience a power interruption. We’ll update you once power is restored," the statement read in part.
Prior to that, Kenya Power confirmed that it had restored power to 90 percent of the households affected by the power supply interruption following the fire at Musaga Substation.
The power supply company explained that it had successfully transferred customers connected to the substation to alternative supply points.
However, the company stated that some areas were still experiencing low voltage, but assured that the issue was being resolved.
"To minimise the impact of the outage, customers who were previously served by Musaga Substation have been transferred to alternative supply points through Webuye, Mumias, Eldoret, Kitale, Kisumu and Rang’ala substations.
"However, some customers may continue to experience low voltage as the network operates under these temporary arrangements," the statement read in part.
Managing Director and CEO, Dr Eng. Joseph Siror visited the site to inspect restoration efforts, including the recovery of damaged control and protection cables and laying new cables to restore the protection systems for the 132/33kV transmission lines serving Tororo, Webuye, Lessos and Mumias.
"This work is critical to safely bringing the affected transmission lines and the substation back into operation. Efforts are also underway to secure replacement transformers and restore the full capacity of Musaga Substation," the statement noted.
