The Jubilee Party has hit back at the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) over claims linking the party to the chaos witnessed during a DCP rally in Nakuru.
In a statement on Saturday, August 15, Jubilee Party Secretary-General Moitalal Ole Kenta dismissed the allegations that the former ruling party was behind the chaos in Nakuru.
Ole Kenta insisted that Jubilee has never been involved in organizing chaos during political gatherings.
“We turn, with equal candour, to voices within the opposition fold, including those aligned to DCP, who in recent days have found it convenient to link our Party, and specifically our presidential candidate, Hon. Fred Matiang’i, to the unrest witnessed in Naivasha and Nakuru.
“Let us be unambiguous, Jubilee Party is not, and has never been, in the business of organizing chaos on our streets,” read the statement in part.

Ole Kenta argued that the chaos witnessed during DCP’s rally in Nakuru pointed to failures within the security system rather than political interference by the Jubilee Party.
“If our colleagues in the opposition are troubled by disorder, let their scrutiny be directed at those constitutionally charged with preventing it, not at a party that has consistently condemned violence in every form and every corner,” he stated.
Jubilee cautioned opposition figures against dragging Jubilee and Matiang’i into matters that do not involve the party.
Ole Kenta maintained that the Jubilee Party would not be intimidated into silence.
“Jubilee Party will not be baited into the politics of insult. We will not be intimidated into silence. And we will not stand by as our name is used as a scapegoat for failures that are not ours to own,” he added.
This comes after a section of DCP-affiliated politicians blamed Nakuru East Member of Parliament Samuel Arama over the attack on the DCP convoy in Nakuru.
Speaking on Friday, August 14, Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina asked Matiang’i to put his house in order and stop Jubilee-affiliated MPs from disrespecting Rigathi Gachagua.
“Put your house in order. We have welcomed you to tour Mt Kenya and speak with the people, but the people who follow you are disrespecting us. We won't accept someone who attacks Gachagua,” Maina stated.
Gachagua, on his part, alleged that Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and Arama organized and paid the goons who attacked the DCP motorcade.
He further claimed that local residents intervened to repel the attackers and protect him, his supporters and journalists travelling with the convoy.
“Luckily, wananchi repulsed these thugs and ensured our safety and that of the members of the 4th Estate who were also targeted,” he said.
