Egerton University has launched a Parents Portal to enable parents, guardians and sponsors to access important information about their students’ academic progress.

The online platform, available through the Egerton University Parent Portal, provides access to various details, including student profiles, fee information, examination results and accommodation records.

The Student Profile section provides general information about a student, including their registration number and academic programme.

The Fee Structure section enables parents, guardians and sponsors to view the amount of fees required for a specific financial period, such as a semester or term.

The portal also provides access to provisional examination results through the Exam Results module, allowing parents to monitor their students’ academic performance.

In addition, the Accommodation Profile module displays details such as the student’s name, accommodation block, room number, bed number and the semester for which accommodation has been paid.

Egerton University said the portal is intended to strengthen the involvement of parents, guardians and sponsors in monitoring students’ progress while at the institution.

"The Parents Portal is an exciting opportunity for parents/guardians/sponsors to become more involved in their student(s) academic progress," the institution said.

Elsewhere, this comes a week after the University of Nairobi (UoN) flagged a fraudulent website being used to scam first-year students and their parents.

In a notice on Wednesday, August 12, the university urged students and parents to exercise caution and verify official platforms before making payments or submitting personal information.

"We have received information that this website has been used to scam the first years' and their parents; https://universityhostelbooking2-ac-keverce.vercel.app/. Kindly take note that this is not a University of Nairobi website," the notice read.

UoN clarified that students should use its official Student Management Information System (SMIS) for registration-related processes.

"All the University of Nairobi student registration processes are accessible through the Student Management Information System at smis.uonbi.ac.ke," the notice added.
