President William Ruto has announced a plan to construct a university in Emurua Dikirr, Narok County.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 26, President Ruto said the university will be named after the late Johana Ng’eno.
The Head of State said the government had allocated Ksh1.2 billion for the construction of the university.
“You asked me as the people of Emurua Dikirr, you want a university to be built here.
“I have brought Ksh1.2 billion to build the university here in Emurua Dikirr, and it will be named after our brother, Johana Nge’no,” President Ruto announced.

According to President Ruto, the new university will benefit residents of Emurua Dikirr, the wider Narok County and the country as a whole.
“That university that I am going to build there will benefit the children of Emurua Dikirr, Narok and Kenya,” President Ruto said.
At the same time, President Ruto announced the government had allocated Ksh180 million for the construction of hostels at the Emurua Dikirr KMTC.
“Here at KMTC, today I am launching the construction of a hostel. We have allocated Ksh180 million for the project,” Ruto announced.
President Ruto is currently on a development tour to Narok County. On Tuesday, President Ruto toured Narok North, Narok West and Narok South constituencies.
This comes months after Nge’no passed away in a helicopter crash in Nandi County.
The helicopter went down at Kabiet sub-location in the Mosop area at approximately 4:30 P.M.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), in a statement, said the helicopter was flying from Endebes to Mosoriot when it crashed.
The former Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament was laid to rest on Friday, March 6. The funeral was attended by President Ruto, senior government officials, and Senators and Members of Parliament.
