Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has warned Mount Kenya residents against being led by their emotions as the country heads to the ballot in 2027.
Speaking during a Women Empowerment meeting in Kirinyaga County on Thursday, September 2, Waiguru said that the region was being led astray by individuals who managed to tap into their emotions.
She warned that the community was being led into a movement marred by uncertainty, yet they had the option to remain in government.
The Governor made it clear that she would not be joining former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and pledged her unconditional support for President William Ruto.
She sensationally claimed that the people of the Mountain cannot bank on the United Opposition to unite under one leader, and urged them to return to the government's side.

"There was a time that my people were trying to push me to leave the government, but I told them that I would not go to Wamunyoro. You have seen it for yourselves.
"I have been quiet because, as the people of Kenya, we must wake up. We must ask ourselves some very serious fundamental questions because politics is not about emotions," Waiguru stated.
The Kirinyaga County Boss rallied the people to back President William Ruto's re-election, adding that no leader was perfect. She further reminded them of former President Uhuru Kenyatta's pledge on Ruto.
"In politics, there is nobody perfect. I was not, yet you gave me a second term. We gave Kibaki 10 Years and gave Uhuru 10 Years.
"I respect Uhuru very much. He was the one who told us that we give him 10 years, and Ruto 10 years. That is where he left us, and that is where I stand," she stated.
He statement came after she stayed away from politics for six weeks amid pressure to ditch the government. The Governor maintained that she would not respond to those insulting her over her decision to stand with the Head of State.
Waiguru's response came days after Gachagua claimed that female governors from the Mount Kenya region were the weakest link in the quest to remove Ruto from office.
He questioned why Waiguru, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire and Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika insisted on standing by Ruto, yet the region had allegedly withdrawn their support.
So far, Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata and Laikipia's Kiarie Badilisha have decamped from UDA to DCP.
