KeNHA advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police officers and traffic marshals on site.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a public notice reminding motorists of a 21-day closure of the Thika-Kilimambogo Road at Delmonte Farms.

In a statement issued on Thursday, September 17, KeNHA reminded motorists that traffic disruptions at Gatuanyaga will last from September 11 to October 2.

The authority explained that the closure is to pave the way for pavement construction works on the failed section between Km 16+100 and Km 18+250 of the highway.

"Reminder. KeNHA notifies the public that a section of Thika-Kilimambogo (A3) Road at Gatuanyaga (Delmonte Farms) will be temporarily closed.

"All motorists plying the Thika-Kilimambogo Road will use provided diversion lanes to ensure minimal traffic disruption in compliance with road safety measures," the notice read in part.

KeNHA advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police officers and traffic marshals on site.

Director General Luka Kimeli confirmed that normal operations on the road will be restored upon completion of the works at the identified section.

Earlier, the Authority had announced the partial closure of a section of Mombasa Road (A8) at Cabanas to facilitate construction works.

The agency said the closure will affect the Eastern Bypass off-ramp on the JKIA-bound section of Mombasa Road and will remain in place for more than a month.

KeNHA said the temporary traffic restriction was necessary to create room for drainage infrastructure works , a box drain, along the affected section of the highway.

Consequently, motorists travelling towards JKIA from the Eastern Bypass would be required to use a designated diversion lane during the construction period.

"All Motorists intending to use Mombasa Road (JKIA bound) from Eastern Bypass will use the provided diversion lane and follow the proposed directions by traffic marshals to ensure minimal traffic disruption in compliance with road safety measures," the statement further read.
