2 Killed After Dreamline Bus Collides With Truck Along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway

Two people have been confirmed dead and six others injured after a Dreamline bus collided with a truck along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, September 23 morning at the Mgalani area near Taru in Kwale County. 

Preliminary reports indicate that the Dreamline bus, which was heading toward Mombasa, rammed into the rear of the truck. 

Photos of the accident seen by Nairobileo.co.ke showed the bus extensively damaged at the front end after colliding with the truck. 

The debris from the collision was also scattered across the scene. 

The accident caused disruption along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway, with police officers being deployed to remove the wreckage. 

The busy highway has in recent weeks recorded several accidents involving buses, matatus and trucks. 

On Wednesday, September 16, 5 people were killed following a collision between a matatu and a trailer along the highway. 

The gruesome accident occurred at Kapiti Plains area in Machakos County and involved a 14-seater matatu belonging to Kinatwa Sacco which was travelling from Nairobi towards Mombasa, and a trailer moving in the opposite direction. 

The injured passengers were rushed to the Machakos Level 5 Hospital for medical attention.

On July 7, another crash occurred along the highway involving a Tahmeed bus and multiple other vehicles. 

According to reports, the crash occurred on the stretch between Machakos Junction and Kathumani Junction. 

Preliminary reports indicate that the collision involved a 50-seater Tahmeed bus, a truck, and at least four other vehicles.

Videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke captured large crowds gathering as emergency responders worked to rescue passengers trapped inside the vehicles.

Images circulating online showed the Tahmeed bus overturned on its side after suffering severe damage in the impact. 

Several of the other vehicles involved in the collision were also extensively damaged.
