Muriithi was elected unopposed as he was the only candidate nominated for the position.

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Board Chairperson Ndiritu Muriithi has been elected as leader of the Kenya Reform Party (KRP) on Monday, September 28.

Muriithi was announced as the new leader during the KRP National Delegates Conference, where his nomination to the position by the party's National Elections Board went unopposed.

"Hon Ndiritu Muriithi is the only nominated person for this position. Where only one candidate is nominated to an office at the close of the nominations, that candidate is declared duly elected," the NEB Chair announced.

The former Laikipia Governor thanked the party delegates for electing him, and read out the seven pillars of KRP's plans for Kenyans, which focus on increasing citizens' income.

The seven pillars are a mass production economy, value addition of natural resources, industrialisation and manufacturing, industrial energy, agriculture as a source of industrial inputs, integrity and wealth, and protection of local industries.

He revealed plans to build industrial parks across all 47 counties in the country through a Ksh150 billion market-led mass production fund. The KRA Board Chair added that KRP will also establish production hubs in all wards.

He further warned leaders against focusing on hurling insults at each other and sloganeering, as it did not benefit the electorate, nor solve the issues facing them,

"No amount of name-calling is going to solve economic problems, create jobs, or increase income for the people. Therefore, rather than spending time in that manner, we call on other political formations to do what we are doing," he stated.

The new development came just days after Wiper Leader  Kalonzo Musyoka announced that the Azimio coalition party had rebranded to the Ukombozi Alliance.

Kalonzo said the Ukombozi Alliance would be guided by a new political philosophy centred on the slogan 'One Term, One Team, One Coalition'.

The coalition is also set to begin engagements with the Jubilee Party as part of efforts to establish the direction of the newly rebranded outfit.
