Media Council of Kenya (MCK) CEO David Omwoyo is among the 13 candidates who have been shortlisted for the position of Data Commissioner.
In a notice on Tuesday, September 29, the Public Service Commission (PSC) said the 13 candidates were shortlisted from 152 applicants who applied for the position.
“The advertisement closed on 14th September, 2026 and attracted a total of One Hundred and Fifty-Two (152) applications,” read the notice in part.
Other shortlisted candidates include: Nooseli Moses Lemayian, Otieno Oscar Onyango, Shalle Mohamed Abdi, Sitienei Lydia Chelagat, Nyale Duncan Kubahatisha and Kirwa Solomon.
Anditi Stephen Odhiambo, Lobuin Isaac Eregae, Mbiuki Jasper Micheni, Cheronoh Lynneth, Abdi Mohamed Hussein and Nyongesa John Walubengo have also been shortlisted for the position.

The 13 candidates will be interviewed on Monday October 5, 2026 at the Public Service Commission officers in Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.
PSC noted that the candidates are required to be at the venue at least 20 minutes before the starting time.
The candidates will also be required to present the originals of their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates and transcripts, as well as any other supporting documents and testimonials.
Further, they will also present clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority; Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; Higher Education Loans Board; any of the registered Credit Reference Bureaus; and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance Certificate).
Candidates with degrees from foreign universities will have to present a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE).
Additionally, PSC invited members of the public to provide any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits.
The information should be addressed to the Secretary/CEO of the Public Service Commission, 4th Floor, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi, or submitted online through [email protected] before October 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will be in charge of the Office of the Data Commissioner, which is tasked with protecting individual privacy, regulating how personal data is processed, and enforcing compliance among organizations.
The office is currently headed by Immaculate Kassait, who was appointed to the position in November 2020.
