Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in eight counties, including Nairobi and Kisumu, on Wednesday.

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in eight counties on Wednesday, October 7.

In a notice on Tuesday, October 6, the company said the planned outages will affect selected areas in Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Embu, Kitui and Garissa counties.  

In Nairobi, customers in part of Runda will experience an interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Runda Drive, Mimosa Road, Mimosa Vale, Runda Vale, Runda Park and Ruaka Groove, as well as adjacent customers.

Part of Kamae will also be without electricity between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The affected locations include Imela Homes, Tapaz Lounge, 277 Lounge and Saa Mbaya, together with adjacent customers.

In Trans Nzoia County, the interruption will affect Aturukan, Kibomet, Mwaita, Perekera and Tuigoin from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include Aturukan HT, Mt Elgot Dairies, Sinendet Centre, Kibomet Primary School, Bishop Yego, Sirwo Resort, Mwaita Primary School, Tuigoin Centre, Kiptenden, Kuriot, Parkera and Murgoiyo.

In Kisumu County, customers around Daraja Mbili Market will experience a power interruption between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Daraja Mbili Market, Koyango Market, Daraja Mbili Village, part of Manyatta B and adjacent customers.

Nyeri County will have two separate scheduled interruptions. Customers around Mathari Hospital and Outspan Medical College will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The areas listed include Mathari Shopping Centre, VOK Booster 1, Kagongo Village, Caritas, Transformer Area, Chania Rwamba, Mathari Hospital and Outspan Medical College.

Another interruption in Nyeri, covering Ihwagi and Ragati Tea Factory, is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected locations include Ihwagi Market, Ihwagi C/Factory, Ihwagi Secondary School, Gathehu Village, Gatondo Secondary School, Kariki TBC, Kiawaiguru TBC, Gitema-Ini TBC, Itundu Market, Kangiri TBC, Gachugu-Ina TBC, Kiarage TBC and Giakaibei Market.

The same interruption will also affect Giakaibei Secondary School, Ndumanu Village, Kanjuri High School, Kanjuri Market, Giagathege TBC, Kiunjugi TBC, Kariambi TBC, Gitima-Ini Market, Kiangengi Market, Ragati Tea Factory, Kagochi Market, Ragati Forest Station, Kianjiru-Ini TBC, One Km Area, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters and adjacent customers.

In Murang’a County, customers in Kihumbuini and Mukurwe will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The areas include Mukurwe, Njaini, Kihumbuini Market, Mukurwe Primary School, Githima Market and adjacent customers.

In Embu County, an interruption covering Karurumo, Ishiara and Kanyuambora is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include Kamumu, Soko, Karerema, Gwakaithi Primary School, Karigiri Primary School, Murari Village, Kavengero, Canon Habert, Kabubua, Mugwanjogu, Kirigo Secondary School, Ngoce, Ciangera and Munthathara, alongside adjacent customers.

In Kitui County, customers around Maliku Market, Kavisuni Market, Kanyangi Market and Kanyongonyo will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Maliku Market, Kavisuni, Mandongoi Secondary School, Kanyangi Market, Kanyangi Secondary School, Zambia Water Supply and Kanyongonyo Market.

In Garissa County, the scheduled interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Sumeya, 17KR Modika and Maua Millers. 

The affected areas include Maua Millers, Modika CAK, 17KR, Sumeya, Quba, Bulla Hagar, Duale Farm and adjacent customers.
