KETRACO has warned members of the public against fake appointment letters circulating online.

The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has warned members of the public against fake appointment letters circulating online.

In an update on Thursday, October 15, the company flagged a fake job offer letter claiming to recruit an Electrical Technician, with a proposed monthly basic salary, in addition to allowances and other benefits.

The fraudulent letter also outlines a purported recruitment process, including an aptitude test and contract signing.

In its warning, KETRACO clarified that the appointment letters being shared online were not issued by the company and urged the public to treat them as fraudulent.

"KETRACO wishes to alert the public that fake appointment letters are circulating online. These letters are fraudulent and are not official communications from KETRACO," the company said.

KETRACO advised job seekers to exercise caution when dealing with individuals promising employment opportunities, particularly where such offers require applicants to disclose personal information or make payments.

Members of the public were urged to avoid sharing personal or sensitive information with individuals behind the fraudulent offers and refrain from sending money in exchange for job offers, appointment letters or promises of employment.

KETRACO also advised applicants to verify all recruitment and appointment-related communications through its official channels before taking any action to establish whether the offers were genuine.

"Please remain vigilant and help protect others by sharing this warning. Do not fall victim to employment scams," the company added.

This comes a day after the National Land Commission (NLC) warned the public against a fake interview invitation for the Finance Officer position circulating online.

In an update on Wednesday, October 14, the commission clarified that it had not issued the purported invitation, which was sent through an email dated October 6, 2026.

The email invited an applicant to attend a virtual interview scheduled for October 12, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.

It further claimed that the interview link and joining instructions would be shared with the applicant before the scheduled interview.

However, the NLC dismissed the communication as fraudulent and cautioned members of the public against relying on it.

"The National Land Commission (NLC) has not issued the interview invitation for the Finance Officer position circulating online. The email is fake," the commission said.

The NLC urged applicants and members of the public to disregard the fake invitation and confirm the authenticity of recruitment-related messages before acting on them.

"Please disregard it and verify recruitment communications through official NLC channels," the commission added.
