Bishop Margaret Wanjiru recently quit the UDA party to lead her own political outfit.
President William Ruto has appointed former Coast Regional Commissioner Nelson Marwa to chair the Nairobi Rivers Commission.
In a gazette notice published Friday, October 16, the president revoked the appointment of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, who recently left the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to lead her own party.
He named Marwa chairperson for three years, effective from the day of the notice.
The notice gives no reason for the change.
Wanjiru is a former Starehe MP and the founder of Jesus Is Alive Ministries.

The revocation comes soon after Wanjiru was officially named leader of the Kenya Moja Movement Party, the new political outfit she formed after quitting UDA, vowing to expand the party's reach and build its structures across the country.
She has said her exit from UDA was driven not only by how she was treated but also by wider problems facing Kenyans. She argued that farmers, people in the transport sector, preachers, and businesspeople are all struggling under the current administration.
Wanjiru also warned the president that the people who helped him into office can vote him out in the 2027 general election.

She further accused the government of deception, saying she had been promised a Cabinet Secretary position but never got it.
Her political record includes a stint as a gubernatorial aspirant. She sought the Nairobi governorship in 2022 but was reportedly persuaded to step down in favour of Johnson Sakaja, and instead ran for the Senate.
She lost that race to Senator Edwin Sifuna, who ran on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
