Kenya Power cautioned customers against interacting with posts appearing on the compromised account as the company works to restore secure access.

"Customers and members of the public are advised not to engage with any content posted on the account," the notice added.

Kenya Power further urged customers to ignore any communication or instructions originating from the affected account until further notice.

"Please do not respond to any messages sent or take instructions issued through the account until further notice," the notice further read.

Prior to that, Kenya Power had announced a five-hour disruption to its telephone contact centre services on Sunday, October 11, due to scheduled system maintenance.

In a notice on Friday, October 9, the company said the maintenance would take place between midnight and 5:00 a.m.

"Please note that we will carry out a system maintenance on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 12:00 a.m (midnight) to 5:00 a.m," the notice read.

Kenya Power said the scheduled maintenance will affect telephone-based customer support during the five-hour window.

"As a result, access to our contact centre through telephone calls will be unavailable," the notice added.

Kenya Power clarified that other platforms would remain operational throughout the maintenance period, allowing customers to continue contacting the company through digital channels.

"However, all other communication channels including emails, social media, *977# and MyPower App, among others, will be available. We apologise for any inconvenience caused," the notice concluded.
