The officers secured the scene and began the process of recovering Sangka’s body to facilitate investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.

"The scene was secured as detectives initiated the process of recovering the deceased’s body," the statement added.

The body was subsequently exhumed in the presence of a pathologist, Ministry of Health officials and police officers to facilitate forensic examination and help establish the cause and circumstances of her death.

Authorities then transferred the remains to Nairobi Funeral Home, where they will be preserved pending a postmortem examination.

"The remains were subsequently transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home for preservation pending a postmortem examination," the statement further read.

Kioko and Deo remained in custody as detectives continued investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the respective roles of the two suspects.

The DCI conveyed its condolences to the family and loved ones of Sangka, pledging to pursue the case to ensure justice is served.

"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. The DCI stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time and reaffirms its commitment to ensuring justice is served," the statement concluded.

Elsewhere, detectives have arrested two suspects in connection with a murder and a separate stabbing incident reported in Lindi, Kibra, Nairobi County, following an intelligence-led operation in the area.

In a statement on Thursday, the DCI said the incidents occurred on October 23, leaving one man dead and another seriously injured in separate attacks as they made their way to work.

"The incidents, which occurred on the morning of October 23, 2026, left one man dead and another nursing serious stab wounds after separate encounters with assailants as they made their way to work," the statement read.

According to the DCI, in the first incident, 49-year-old Jacob Odhiambo Alube was fatally attacked by assailants who robbed him of his valuables, including his mobile phone.

When he attempted to resist the robbery, the attackers stabbed him in the chest and left thigh before fleeing the scene.

Police officers who responded to the incident found Alube dead at the scene, with evidence pointing to a struggle between him and his attackers.

"Police officers who responded to the scene found his body lying in a pool of blood, with bloodstains several metres away suggesting a fierce struggle had taken place," the statement added.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel processed the scene to collect evidence as investigations into the killing began.

Alube's body was later transferred to Nairobi Funeral Home, where it was held pending a post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident reported on the same morning, 58-year-old Juma Jared was attacked and stabbed multiple times by two assailants.

He sustained injuries to his upper left arm, the left side of his chest and his lower left back.

"He sustained injuries to his upper left arm, the left side of his chest and lower left back. Good Samaritans rushed him to Mbagathi Hospital, from where he was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further treatment," the statement further read.

Jared was reported to be in fair and stable condition following the attack. Unlike the first incident, nothing was stolen from him during the assault.

"Following the two incidents, detectives launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the attacks and identify those responsible," the statement noted.

The investigations led detectives to conduct an intelligence-led operation in the Kingstone area of Lindi, Kibra, where they arrested two suspects identified as Abdizar Suleiman and Stephen Litari Hussein.
