KPLC Announces Power Shutdowns in 8 Counties on Sunday

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in eight counties on Sunday, November 1, to facilitate maintenance and network upgrades.

In a notice on Saturday, October 31, the company said the power outages will affect selected areas in Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kitui, Kisumu, Siaya, Bungoma and Kilifi counties.

In most of the affected areas, electricity supply will be interrupted between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, although some locations will experience shorter outages.

In Nairobi County, the planned interruption will affect parts of Parklands from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 

The affected areas include parts of Masari Road, 2nd Parklands and 3rd Parklands, Baywaters and Doctors Plaza, alongside adjacent customers.

In Kiambu County, Kenya Power has scheduled outages in two areas. The first interruption will affect Gatuanyaga, Makongeni and Kiganjo from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The affected locations include Kangoki, Buffalo Estate, Kabati, Kwa Magu, Magic Stone Quarry, Budhia Quarry, Nyacaba, St. George School, Komo Market, Munyu Market, Kiganjo Alternative Energy, Makongeni, Kisii Estate, Retec Factory, and Kenya Leather.

Others are Avoil Industries, Mulumba Hospital, Kamenu, Kenyatta Secondary School, Delta, Kenblest, Carton Exp, Kifaro, Gatuanyaga, Maraba, Muthara, Kimuchu, Landless, Kenya Paper Pump and Ananas Mall, among other adjacent customers.

The second interruption in Kiambu will affect parts of Kigwa and Ridgeways between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. 

Areas listed include Four Ways, Laymark Apartments, parts of Bypass, St. Mary's High School, part of Thindigua, Kasarini, Kwaheri Road, Elysian Restaurant, Sabis School, Kencom Estate, Muhasibu Estate, Rubis and Shell Bypass, alongside adjacent customers.

In Machakos County, residents and businesses in Athi River will experience a power interruption from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The affected locations include Alpharama, Old Mombasa Road, Petrocity, Sabaki Estate, Greatwall Gardens, Tamarind, London Distillers, Lifecare, Saphire Business Park, Signature Mall, Ngwata, KPLC Offices Mlolongo, Apex RMD, Apex TMD, and Welding Alloys.

Others are Riverpark Estate, Kims Business Park, Nova School, Athi River Makadara, Star Sheikh, KMC Factory, Acacia Estate, Amegga Bricks, Nita, Saj Ceramics, Oriental Godowns and Omrata.

Another interruption in Machakos will affect Matuu from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 

The affected areas include Matuu Town, Kanyonyo Market, Kanyonyo Border Police Unit, Kanyonyo Police Hospital, Kithyoko Market and Kivandini Market, alongside adjacent customers.

In Kitui County, the planned electricity interruption will affect Mwingi, Kyuso, Tseikuru and Mutito from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The affected areas include Nguni, Mathuki, Kalitini, Miambani, Ngaie, Masavi, Kiwanza, Kasteni, Ukasi, Ngomeni, Kalwa, Mulinde, Zikani, Yatwa, Nuu, Mutitu, Endau, Kaliku, Kitulani, Malalani, Nyaani, Kavuti, Ikuuni, Waita, Kamuongo, Gaai, Kanduiwa, Kyuso, Mikauni, Ngungani Markets, and Kiambere Water Supply.

Wikithuki, Mbondoni, Kiomo, Kioo, Maiyuni, Kavaini, Mbakini, Kwa Muthusi, Yenzuva, Kavaloi, Kanyaa, Kalimbui, Nguutani, Kakululo, Syongoni, Migwani Town, Kithaunani, Thokoa, Musuani, Kanyekini, Kitumbi, Mukuuni, Nzeluni, Kyome, Mbau, Ilalambyu and Kyamboo will also be affected.

Other affected locations include Mwingi Hospital, Kalisasi, Musukini, Ndaluni, Katalwa, Muutwaathi and Mumbuni, alongside adjacent customers.

In Kisumu County, two areas will experience planned power interruptions between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The first outage will affect Sondu, including Bethlehem Hospital and Bishop Okumu, while the second will affect Miwani, including Miwani Boys, Gondi Oraro, Nyangeta Police and Makini Home. Adjacent customers in both areas will also be affected.

In Siaya County, the scheduled interruption will affect Sirembe from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. 

The affected locations include Ndegwe Primary and Secondary Schools, Sirembe Market and Sirembe Secondary School, alongside adjacent customers.

In Bungoma County, the power outage will affect Mabanga and Ndengelewa from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Meanwhile, in Kilifi County, electricity supply will be interrupted in Kanamai Majengo, KALRO, Mtepeni and CBL from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The affected locations include Glacier Foods, Bulkon Builders, Mtwapa Gardens, Four Farm, Ashton EPZ, Raisons Distributors, Holistic Education Trust, Bliss Villas, Ashut Plastics, Bestline Garments, Petrocity Kanamai, County Market, Mzambarauni, Mzuri Sweets I, Big 5, KALRO, and Milly Fruits.

Others are Ogali's, Global Apartments, Zenetta Apartments, Destiny Inn, Aljazeera Estate, Kwa Mwalimu Omar, Masjid Imran, Mwavitswa, Ndonya, Mawenzi Resort, Ndonya Police, White Peacock, Anestar Schools and Mtepeni.

Sina Changu, Chengoni, Tunzanani, Majengo Kanamai, Kapedo, Mwatundo, Mvita Oils, Porini Restaurant, Vinani, Haruxa, 3 Stars, Northcoast Medical College, Pentagon, Junju Secondary School and Mwembetsungu, alongside adjacent customers will also be affected.
