The Linda Mwananchi Movement has criticised Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot following his response to concerns raised by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna over the poor state of roads in Kwale County.
Sifuna had shared photographs highlighting the deteriorating condition of roads in the coastal county, drawing a response from Cheruiyot, who told him, “Tandika Katiba upite juu,” loosely translated as “Spread the Constitution and drive over it.”

Cheruiyot’s remarks attracted criticism from Linda Mwananchi Head of Communications Pauline Njoroge, who accused the senator of displaying arrogance towards constitutional provisions meant to address inequalities in service delivery across the country.
In a statement on Monday, November 2, Njoroge argued that the Constitution provides for the Equalisation Fund, which was established to improve access to basic services in marginalised areas.

"Such arrogance from someone entrusted with upholding the constitution. Sifuna highlights the terrible roads in Kwale, and Cheruiyot mocks the Constitution. Yet Article 204 establishes the Equalisation Fund to improve basic services, including roads in marginalised areas. Kwale was among its original beneficiaries," she wrote.

Njoroge further defended the Linda Mwananchi Movement's emphasis on constitutionalism, arguing that Kenyans deserved better service delivery in line with the Constitution.
" Kenyans deserve services delivered in accordance with our Constitution, not contempt. That is why a return to constitutionalism is a critical pillar of the Linda Mwananchi Movement campaign. Come 2027, the Katiba will light the path on which we walk," she added.
This comes days after the Linda Mwananchi Movement distanced itself from a social media post calling on its supporters to boycott Radio 47.
In a statement on Thursday, October 29, Linda Mwananchi Head of Communications Pauline Njoroge clarified that the Facebook page that published the statement was not affiliated with the movement.
"Please note that this is not our page, and its content does not represent the positions of the Linda Mwananchi Movement," she wrote.
Njoroge identified the movement’s official Facebook page as the one with 106,000 followers and urged supporters to distinguish it from the account that published the boycott message.
"Our official page is Linda Mwananchi (the one with 106k followers). The fake page has the word LINDA in capital letters. We are working on verification," she added.
The clarification follows the circulation of a post purporting to be an announcement to Linda Mwananchi supporters, urging them to boycott Radio 47 and avoid what it described as biased media coverage.
