"You are lucky you have a home in America. Where would the common mwananchi from Kiambu go?"
Kikuyu Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ichung'wah has dismissed Rigathi Gachagua's claim that he will fly out to the US if President William Ruto is re-elected as hateful.
Speaking in Kiambaa on Monday, November 2, Ichung'wah questioned where Gachagua expected ordinary people from the Mount Kenya region to go.

He accused the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader of secluding the region from other communities, which would cause more harm than good to their quest to remain close to power.
"He is trying to sell us hatred. I have heard others saying that if Ruto returns to office, he will relocate to America.

"You have a house there, but what of the Kiambu people who don't? Where will they go? Let us not buy hatred. We cannot stand ourselves in this country alone; we need other Kenyans," Iching'wah reiterated.

The Leader of the Majority reminded Gachagua that even as he chest-thumps about 7 million registered voters in the region, it is not automatic that they belong to a Kikuyu candidate.
He used Kiambu County as an example, where he claimed that nearly 400,000 of the 1.3 million registered voters in the county were non-Kikuyu or non-Mount Kenya-speaking communities.
Earlier, the Head of the Panel on Compensation of Human Rights Violations and Protest Victims, Prof Makau Mutua, told Gachagua to make good on his threat to go into exile in America. Mutua opined that the incumbent retaining power was inevitable.
"I welcome Wamunyoro to flee to the US now because the die is cast for Tutam! He should save himself the trouble," he said.
Gachagua was also caught at loggerheads with some of the party leaders within the United Opposition. Jubilee Party Leader Fred Matiang'i warned him about remarks he purportedly made, alleging that he, Senator Edwin Sifuna and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka could amass votes to kick Ruto out of office.
“With tremendous respect to the leader because he is a leader of a party, that arrogance and that particular pride is precisely what is going to split the opposition and make it very difficult for the opposition to unite,” said Matiang’i.
Earlier, Democratic Party Leader Justin Muturi accused the ex-DP of political bullying and undermining the unity of the Opposition.
"Gachagua must understand one fundamental truth: No Kenyan President has ever been made by one community alone. The presidency is won through national consensus, strategic alliances and the ability to unite Kenyans across ethnic and regional boundaries," he wrote.
