Passaris said that the CS would be the perfect fit for Nairobi, which deserves a hands-on, decisive, no-nonsense administrator.

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has endorsed Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Geoffrey Ruko to become Nairobi County's next governor in 2027.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 11, Passaris said that CS Ruko was the best fit to lead the county due to his track record in the Ministry.

She argued that his hands-on approach to executing his mandate is the best fit for Nairobi County.

"I have watched CS Ruku handle Special Programmes and disaster response. His energy, decisiveness and hands-on leadership are exactly the qualities Nairobi needs. I simply want Nairobi to have the best Governor possible.

"CS Geoffrey Ruku, if elections were held today, you would have my vote! August 10, 2027 is still ahead of us. No candidate owns Nairobi. Every vote must be earned, every promise must count, and every leader must be accountable," she wrote.

The Woman Representative maintained that she would support the CS even if he ran for Nairobi Governor under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

She further took a swipe at incumbent governor, Johnson Sakaja, over his lacklustre approach to managing the county.

Passaris sensationally claimed that Sakaja was a ceremonial governor and that President William Ruto was the one handling the county affairs. She added that Ruku would lighten the President's burden.

"For too long, Ruto has been Nairobi’s de facto Governor, stepping in where county leadership should have delivered. Nairobi needs a hands-on, decisive, no-nonsense administrator. Someone who shows up, takes charge and gets things done," she wrote.

The MP added that Sakaja shifting allegiance to ODM did not guarantee re-election.

Her sentiments came days after CS Ruku hinted that he would join the Nairobi Gubernatorial race.  He claimed that Nairobi should be handled with the respect it deserves and presented himself as an eligible candidate.

“You people know very well that I was previously an elected leader. Is there any problem if I vie and get elected here in Nairobi? Am I not able to lead this county?” he posed.
