Lawyer Nelson Havi has proposed that Edwin Sifuna be deputized by either Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata or Nyandarua Senator John Methu in the 2027 General Election.

In a statement on Friday, November 6, Havi said a presidential ticket comprising Sifuna and either Kang’ata or Methu is his preferred formula for achieving a change of government in 2027.

According to the former Law Society of Kenya President, Fred Matiang'i, Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa should contest for Senate seats in their respective counties and help mobilize votes for Sifuna.

“This, for me, is the working formula for change of Government. Let Edwin Sifuna run for President and be deputized by Irungu Kangata or John Methu.

“Fred Matiangi, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and any other presidential aspirant in the United Opposition should run for Senate and secure votes for Edwin Sifuna from their respective Counties,” read the statement in part.

Further, Havi proposed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka be in charge of the presidential campaign and the government that would be formed.

“H E Rigathi Gachagua and H E Kalonzo Musyoka should be “supreme leaders” in charge of the presidential campaign and the Government to be formed,” he added.

His proposal comes a day after Governor Kang’ata ruled out interest in the Deputy President position.

Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, November 4, Kang’ata said he believes in having a platform rather than positions.

The Murang’a county boss said he has ideas on how Kenya can move forward and intends to share them with Gachagua, Kalonzo and Sifuna.

“I do not want to become a DP for several reasons: I believe strongly the issue is not about positions; it is about platform. What do you want to do for the country?

“I have ideas on how Kenya can move forward, but I want to share those ideas with my boss, Gachagua, and with my other potential bosses, including Kalonzo Musyoka and Sifuna,” said Kang’ata.

He said he would concentrate on his responsibilities in Murang’a County, noting that there was still a lot of work to be done.

“Beyond that, I really feel that it is not about positions; let me just concentrate on what I am doing in Murang’a; there is a lot of work that remains undone,” added Kang’ata.
