Representatives of FIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the government were present at the SGM. They had earlier engaged representatives from all factions to find a way forward after the meeting failed to start on time.
The meeting had been earlier delayed after chaos broke out at the Three Steers Hotel, the venue.
Police deployed teargas and Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) officers at the premises after hundreds of youths reportedly descended on the venue, with some occupying rooms inside the hotel. The SGM had been due to start at 9 am.
In an official statement, FKF said the assembly in Meru, which it described as the federation’s supreme decision-making organ, acted after considering allegations of serious and repeated violations of the FKF Constitution and applicable FIFA regulations against the seven.

FKF said the decision to expel Mariga and company was informed by several matters, including a purported NEC resolution of April 24 this year that sought the removal of the FKF president and other federation officials, repeated failure to attend duly convened NEC meetings, and unauthorised communication on behalf of the federation.
It also cited actions it said were contrary to the FKF Constitution and applicable football regulations.
"The resolution follows consideration of allegations of serious and repeated violations of the FKF Constitution and applicable FIFA regulations relating to the conduct of the seven officials and their actions within the federation,” FKF said.
According to FKF, its top brass acted within its constitutional powers.
It said it would communicate further on the implementation of the resolutions and the resulting administrative arrangements.
"The Assembly exercised its mandate under Articles 16 and 24 of the FKF Constitution, which provide for the expulsion of members and the dismissal of NEC officials," the federation said.
"FKF remains committed to constitutional governance, institutional accountability and the stability of football administration in Kenya," it added.
The resolution could be challenged in court.
Mariga, a former Harambee Stars captain and Inter Milan midfielder, joined the federation’s leadership as vice president after President Hussein Mohammed won the elections, held on December 7, 2024.
Mohammed's victory ended Nick Mwendwa’s long tenure as president. Mohammed garnered 67 votes in the second round.
The pair ran on a joint ticket, which was seen at the time as a unifying ticket. They officially assumed office two days after their election.
Mariga’s removal comes less than two years into his term.
