He said that the ex-Governor's record at the helm of Makueni County makes him suitable for the role and that the Mwananchi Party was privileged to have him on board.

"He was ranked among Kenya’s best-performing Governors and left a remarkable legacy through his transformative leadership and service to the people of Makueni County.

On his part, Kibwana said that he and the Embakasi East MP discussed the future of Kenya and Nairobi, where Babu intends to run for governor.

He will face off with incumbent Johnson Sakaja, former Nairobi County CeC Geoffrey Mosiria, former MP Margaret Wanjiru, and Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri for the governorship in 2027.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Geoffrey Ruki also declared interest in unseating Governor Sakaja on a UDA ticket after the County Chief decamped to ODM.

Earlier, Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris endorsed CS Ruku's gubernatorial bid, stating that he is the best pick to lead the county due to his track record in the Ministry.

She argued that his hands-on approach to executing his mandate is the best fit for Nairobi County.

Passaris claimed that under Sakaja's leadership, Ruto has been the de facto governor, and that with Ruko at the helm, the President's burden would be eased.

"I have watched CS Ruku handle Special Programmes and disaster response. His energy, decisiveness and hands-on leadership are exactly the qualities Nairobi needs. I simply want Nairobi to have the best Governor possible," she said.
