Reports have emerged that a mother and her child were killed by a Kenyan airstrike in Southern Somalia and four others injured. This is according to the deceased woman's husband who spoke to the media on Monday, June 7, 2021.
Reuters reported that the bombing took place on the night of Thursday, June 3, in two towns, within Jubbaland.
The Somalia government has since condemned the bombings in El Ade and Hisa-u-Gur towns, terming the incidents as "indiscriminate air strikes" by Kenya's defence forces.
A contingent of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers is part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) mandated with ensuring peace and stability in the Horn of Africa Nation.
The woman's husband, Ali Ahmed Sheikh told Reuters that he was away from home when the Kenyan warplane struck his home in El Ade and that of his neighbour on the fateful night.

"I found my house destroyed, my wife Sahra Aden and the baby she suckled dead," Sheikh was quoted by the publication as saying.
He is currently at the Erdogan Hospital in the Somali capital of Mogadishu where he is tending to his four other children who were injured in the attack.
Sheikh alleged that the Kenyan forces bombed other villages as well, destroying communications masts in the process.
The Somali government in a statement said that the airstrikes resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, though withholding details of the casualties.
AMISOM has since said it is gathering information on the reported incident.
