A group of women legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI, accusing the agency of being used to politicize war against graft.
Speaking at Ruto’s Karen residence on Thursday, the women leaders claimed that the DCI was using anti-corruption war to intimidate key players in the DP’s team.
Reacting to reports that the DCI had finalised investigations on claims that Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua was involved in a Sh12 billion graft case, the legislators who included; Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa , Kandara MP Alice Wahome, Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Kabete MP Githua Wamacukuru, Nakuru Woman Rep Lizah Chelule, and Taita Taveta Woman Representative Lydia Haika read malice in the case, claiming that the agency was working on silencing vocal members of the DP’s team.

“The laws must be defined independently of the circumstances of those to whom the rules are intended to apply,” Jumwa said.
She urged Hustler Nation’s new member Gathoni wa Muchomba to prepare for prosecution, claiming that those not happy with her defection will start concocting corruption cases against her.
Meanwhile, the DCI has reportedly concluded investigation into the Sh12 billion graft case, and believes that the money was channeled to 40 companies associated with Gachagua.
According to the DCI, most of the money transfers ended up in a company identified as Wamunyoro Investments Limited, whose shareholders are Gachagua and his wife Dorcas Wanjiku .
“We have completed that investigation and it has taken us a lot of time,” Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti is quoted.
Following completion of the investigations, the DCI is expected to pursue the matter in court anytime soon. That means they may be going after Gachagua and other persons involved in the case.
