Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has stated that Kenya will soon produce Covid-19 vaccines.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on KBC on the Country's Covid-19 status and preparedness, Kagwe mentioned that Kenya is moving away from the global supply chain.
"Kenya is moving away from depending on the global vaccine supply chain. We will soon produce vaccines in Kenya.
"We continue to urge that we depend more on the local production. We are making good progress on this," Kagwe said.
The Health CS noted that Kenya was below its target in vaccination due to the supply chain.

"On vaccination, as far as our target is concerned we are below the target and this is due to supply we are receiving.
"The supply constraints are now easing and we have more vaccines. For once we have to manage this disease from a global perspective. The committee is developing a system on the way we vaccine," CS Kagwe stated.
The Health CS commended the job being done by public hospitals in managing the pandemic.
"This is the first time we have public hospitals match private hospitals because of better equipment and case management. I am proud of this as the Health CS. Going forward we want to adopt the philosophy of family health. We want to take health to the people," CS Kagwe mentioned.
