Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru has finally come clean on the position she will be gunning for in next year's general election.
The first term governor dismissed reports that she would she will be a presidential running mate, maintaining that she will be defending her seat.
"I have seen posters of me being paired with other people on social media but I want say that in 2022, I will be vying for governor of Kirinyaga County," said Waiguru.
She went on to say that she thinks it's just people who are testing the waters because they see potential in Kirinyaga.
Waiguru added that she has not had a sit down with any of the people who have declared their candidature for the 2022 general election, which means there's nothing concrete.

She further stated that if it comes to that, she will make it public because she knows she is able to deliver as deputy president and also President.
Anne Waiguru is widely seen as one of the people who will likely be running mates for next year's presidential candidates.
She has been linked to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto who the top two contenders for the top job.
