The Kenya Association of International Schools has cancelled
the phased re-opening of its learning institutions citing the increased number
of COVID-19 cases in the country.
In a statement, the association noted that plans to re-open
their schools on October 26, 2020 for learners in other classes has been halted
until further communication.
“The earlier advice to recall our other year groups
including our early years from the October 26 is hereby vacated. In-person
learning will continue only for final year and key transition years /grades.
“Irrespective of the availability of space, all
International Schools shall strictly adhere to a reopening that mirrors the
stated levels as outlined by the Ministry of Education for national curriculum
schools,” the association said.

Meanwhile, alarm was raised earlier this week after students
tested positive for coronavirus in Nandi County barely a week after schools
reopened.
A case was confirmed by the county after a student at Kabote
SDA Secondary school was placed in isolation centre.
"A team of experts was dispatched to the schools and tests revealed a case at Kabote Secondary,” said Health Executive Ruth Koech.
Another incident was reported at St Peter's Boys in Kakamega county after a
Form Four student tested positive for the virus.
The student was placed at an isolation centre in Mumias and
is currently in a stable situation.
County Health Executive, Dr Collins Matemba confirmed the incident adding that the learning institution was being monitored.
